Rye and Roses (Rhyg a Rhosod) is a new family bakery and micro-homestead based at the home of Jane, Tom, and Reuben Baker in Penegoes, near Machynlleth. As Maggie and Rick of Mair’s Bakehouse move gently into retirement they have kindly passed on the baton to us to supply bread to the veg box scheme.

We specialise in baking sourdough bread, handmade using simple ingredients (flour, water, salt and sourdough starter) and a slow fermentation process. Where possible our ingredients are organic, although we are not officially certified. All our flour is stoneground. We use Felin Ganol Mill in Llanrhystud for our organic wholemeal flour, rye flour, rye chops, bran, and semolina. We use Matthews Mill in the Cotswolds for stone-ground organic white flour. We are members of the Real Bread Campaign, and do not use any so-called ‘processing aids’ or other artificial additives.
